Need to keep screen on?

Hi Tim, great question! No, you do not need to keep your screen on. Here's how it works:
The extension uses Chrome's Alarms API for scheduled scans, which runs in the background as long as Chrome itself is running. However, there are a few things to keep in mind on a MacBook:
It will work if:
- Chrome is still running (you can minimize it, it doesn't need to be in the foreground)
- Your Mac is not fully asleep
It may NOT work if:
- Your MacBook goes to sleep (lid closed or idle sleep) when macOS sleeps, Chrome's service worker gets suspended and alarms won't fire until the Mac wakes up
- Chrome is fully quit (not just minimized)
Recommendations for reliable scanning:
1. Adjust sleep settings - Go to System Settings → Battery → Options and enable "Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is turned off". This lets your screen lock/turn off (which is fine) while keeping the Mac awake so Chrome can run.
2. Alternatively, just keep Chrome running and let the screen lock - screen locking alone is fine, the issue is only full system sleep.
So, in short, screen locking is fine. The screen can turn off. Just make sure your Mac doesn't fully sleep and Chrome stays running. That one battery setting should do the trick.
